Custody

We handle all types of custody matters, including divorces that also have custody issues. We are also experienced in paternity grandparents’ custody matters, custody matters between non-married parents, and issues regarding custody that may arise from an intervention by the Cabinet for Families and Children.

Post Divorce Issues

There are a multitude of problems that can come up after a divorce is completed. We have the experience and ability to guide you through the issues, from custody and time share changes to relocation and clarification of agreements.

Domestic and Interpersonal Violence Issues

Kentucky has made great strides in providing protection for folks involved in Domestic and Interpersonal Violence situations. The courts may now order protection not only for a victim of domestic violence but also dating violence and abuse, stalking and/or sexual assault. Abuse of a household pet as a method to coerce, control, punish, intimi-
date, or take revenge against you or a child is now included in acts of violence. Whether you feel you have been a victim of violence or whether you have been accused, it is extremely important that you have an attorney to guide you through this process.

Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements

Prenuptial agreements and Post-nuptial agreements area a form of contract that allows couples to personalize their agreements to reflect their specific intentions. Prenuptial agreements allow couples entering into marriage to clearly establish the assets and debts held by each party at the time of the marriage and decide how the division of assets and debts will be handled in the event of divorce or death. Post-nuptial Agreements are often entered into when circumstances change during the marriage and the parties want to formally address those changes. We are experienced in handling these contracts quickly and efficiently.

Mediation

Mediation offers a collaborative and constructive approach to resolving conflicts privately. It empowers the parties to actively participate in finding solutions and can often result in more satisfying and sustainable outcomes than adversarial court proceedings. It is very effective in family law situations. Elizabeth is a trained mediator with a vast amount of mediation experience.
